John Dobby Boe has published Life Itself: Messiness is Next to Goddessness and Other Essays, and Your Joke is in the E-mail: Cyberlaffs from Mousepotatoes (with Alice Kahn). He is a professional storyteller, who has often recited his poetry and told erotic folktales at various venues, including Bistro 33 in Davis and (with the Steve Slagle jazz trio) The Freight and Salvage in Berkeley. He is a PhD in English who teaches writing at U.C. Davis, where he edits the journal Writing on the Edge. He has published more than a hundred essays, stories, poems, articles, and reviews. He plans to use this blog to post poems, translations, stories, thoughts, and jokes, most of them his own, many of them dirty. Some of you might object that he should use the term “erotic” rather than “dirty,” arguing, “Sex isn’t dirty.” John Dobby Boe says that if you don’t think sex is dirty, then you’ve never had sex with him.”
